I trudged into the restaurant, thoroughly bored. This place was so dull during the day. All the chicks were either gone or working, all the nightclubs were closed, the pubs were nearly empty...there was absolutely nothing to do. I walked into the restaurant and quickly took my seat at a booth, praying that, by some miracle, a girl would walk by and entertain me. That was exactly what I needed right now. Entertainment. Without it, I would surely die. Or worse. I would go out and find a job. I had already applied for a couple, but I didn't think I'd get them. One I was too young for. The other...not quite my thing. I doubt they'd hire a drunk nineteen year old for a stable hand.
Oh well. I shifted in my seat, waiting for a waitress to come by. No wonder they were called that. You had to wait forever to be waited on. Wait...what? English is the most retarded language...
Anyway, finally, an old crone of a waitress came by, pen tucked behind her ear and a pad in her hand. Whadya want? She asked, rather rudely. I scanned the menu quickly. Budweiser and a grilled cheese. I ordered, my voice monotone. She held out her hand, apparently asking for my ID. I handed her the false one, and she bought it. She gave it back and wrote down my order. Nearly a half freaking hour later she came back with my food. How long did it take to grill a sandwich and pull out a beer? My God this place was rediculous. Where was my maiden in low cut jeans and a tube top?
My cell phone started vibrating in my pocket suddenly, and I quickly took it out. It was a number I didn't recognize. Curious, and bored out of my mind, I answered. The voice on the other end of the line started muttering, and my eyes widened. No way...You're not serious...You're ki-Yes sir, I want the job...yes...Yes...Will do! Excited, I flipped my phone shut. No way! I was actually a bartender. Pretty freaking sweet, if I do say so myself.

Sky walked into the resturaunt she hadn't wanted to be bothered with preparing a meal so she had decided to eat out for a change. Her long, layered brown hair was let down for a change and she wore jeans and blazer jacket. Sky smiled at the guy sitting at the table accross from her. He was cute but she was never the time to walk up and introduce herself like her bold friends back home. A waitress walked up to table and handed her the menu, rambling off a impatient special of the day. She thanked the waitress before starting to go over the menu. She had no idea what she wanted. When the waitress returned she settled for a coke and sandwich and sat looking out the window waiting for her food.

I looked over and watched a girl come in. She was a pretty thing, skinny and tall for a girl. She looked at me briefly before being distracted by another bloody waitress. She was seated and ordered...what I couldn't tell. She was a bit quiet. That or a bit far away. Either way, she ordered something. The waitress left, and I saw my opening. She was a girl, I was a guy, she was alone, I was bored, so I saw no reason why I couldn't go and walk up to her. I smirked, grabbed my plate and my fresh bottle of beer and walked over to her table. This seat taken? I asked, smiling flirtatiously. I'm Cody. I introduced myself. Is your name as beautiful as your body? I knew it was an old pick-up line, but ladies love those things. They're cute, they're dorky, and they're desperate. She seemed like the type who would like dorky, cute, and desperate. Though I was definitely not the first or the last.

Sky looked up at the guy who she had noticed when she came in. He was cute. "Nope,"She gestured for him to sit even though she knew he'd make himself quite at home across from her. She laughed at the corny line he gave her."Nice,"she mused." My names Sky." She introduced herself. Her brown eyes studied him for a moment before her eyes fell onto his cusine choice. She chuckled,it seemed like ages since she'd last had a cold beer or partied for that matter. It wasn't that she didn't want to,it was just she couldn't find time especially with all the moving and such.

I smiled flirtatiously. Sky, eh? Nice name. I took a quick bite of my sandwich, washing it down with my beer. I held it up to her, leaning the neck closer to her. You want one? I asked, catching her looking at it. I crossed my left leg over my right, brushing her foot with mine. I smiled, my way of apologizing without really apologizing. After all, I had meant to do it. Women just always seemed to want an apology of some sort for playing footsie. I looked over my shoulder briefly to see if the waitress had come yet. She hadn't. This place is so God-darn slow, it's rediculous. I laughed, annoyed at the service. I guess, with small towns, bad service was to be expected. I had never lived in a small town, and the service had always been speedy. But not here. Here, it was just plain annoying.

"Thanks,"she said excepting the compliment. As Cody offered her the chance at a beer she shook her head. She knew if she'd have one she'd have another and that wouldn't be good. She smiled at his not so discreat flirty antics. This guy is the biggest flirt ever. She thought to herself with a smile. "It is pretty slow."She commented looking towards where a waitress was standing. "And it's not like it's busy here." besides Cody and herself there was only two more tables. Sky brushed her angled bangs out of her eyes and leaned back in her seat abit.

I nodded politely, shrugging. Suit yourself. I smiled, taking another gulp. I'd only had two so far, but I could feel more coming on. I hadn't wanted to get drunk here, but come on, they had Budweiser. And nothing was better than that. And, like potato chips, cigarettes, and cocaine, you could never have just one. I turned around in I seat, looking towards the kitchen. Already I was starting to lose what little judgement I had. Hey! Hurry it up! They lady wants to eat! I called, knowing it wouldn't do any good but doing it nonetheless. Sighing, I turned back around in my seat and shrugged once more. Who knows what their problem is. They're probably getting sick of kids like me yellin' at 'em. I laughed, loud enough to sound like a teenager, quiet enough to not look too drunk. Two beers wasn't enough to get someone drunk, was it? Nah. Not me, anyway.

Sky looked down and her cheeks flushed lightly as he yelled back at the waitress. She was never one to do something like that unless someone made her mad. She tilted her head and caught his gaze,"So, you from here?" She asked. She didn't know anyone considering she just moved her. In a way it was nice to have his company and she didn't mind that he was stranger. Sky touched her necklace as she waited for Cody to answer her question.

I looked at her and smiled a bit, feeling a little guilty. Nah. My dad sent me here to try and straighten me out. My brother got arrested a while ago, and Pop thought that meant I was a bad kid too. But I'm not. I was just upset cause my foal died. But he thought I was 'a troubled punk', as he put it. He gave me a choice. Here, or reform school. And I sure as Hell ain't goin' to no reform school without a good reason. I looked at her, my smile gone. I was mourning, and he shipped me off. He thought it was good for me, I know, but still...Anyway, he's going to regret that. I'll make sure of it. I smirked and gave her a thumbs up. Nothin' bad. I'm just going to tell him the good news. I got a job as a bartender, the one thing he didn't want me to be. I paused, patting my cell phone quietly. I couldn't wait to tell him and hear his reaction. What about you? You live around here? Or were you kicked out of the house too? I hadn't meant for my tone to be harsh. It was an honest question. I just hate parents that kick their kids out and expect them to not care or to flourish.

Sky cleared her throat quietly. She was lost as to what to say to him after he spilt his guts out on the table about his dad and everything. She shifted awkwardly in her seat thankful to see the waitress with her food. She politely thanked the waitress and took a sip of her coke. "No I'm not from here,"She started." I semestered out of school early and I talked my parents into letting me move here and get a job an apartment." She told him.
Her mom was less then pleased with her decision to move away from home and start working but she respected her daughters passion for horses and thought it would be best if she actually made a name for herself in the industry. Sky's father on the other hand thought it would be a great idea for her to get out in the working world and make herself some money and some new friends. Sky was excited about her living here and even more excited about her new job.

The waitress finally came by, as if she had been waiting for him to tell his life story. She looked dull, like all the waitresses, and blatently handed Sky her plate and drink. She turned to leave, and started to walk off before Cody could stop her. Hey! He called. She turned around, looking annoyed. Get me another beer. And please, for the love of God, do it in less than an hour. He stared at her. She stared back. He won the undeclared staring contest. She blinked and turned around, walking away with her hands on her hips.
Cody turned back to face the girl who had started to talk. What job did you take, here? He asked, truly curious. She seemed like a pretty level-headed girl, one worthy of his time. She wasn't a drunkard like a lot of the girls he knew, and that definitely scored her some extra points. Whether he was a drunk or not, he liked smart girls that knew when to drink and when not to. It showed a lot about their character, and she had some pretty good morals shoved in that head of hers, it seemed.

She put her drink down," I'm a jockey." She said. She wasn't going to bore him with all the fine details. She was a to the point kinda gal.
Sky gave him a flirty look and a smile lit her features,"You a cowboy?" Her flirty brown eyes caught his and she held his gaze. I probably shouldn't flirt with this guy,he may take it to a whole new level. She thought to herself. She sat there waiting for his answer. SHe knew a guy like him hadn't just made himself at home across from her just to talk. He probably had a motive but Sky didn't care. She came to this town to have some fun after work. Who knows maybe he could show her a good party spot or a good time perhaps.....

I shifted in my seat a bit, getting more comfortable. Again my foot touched hers, but this time I didn't apologize. I acted like I hadn't even noticed. Jockey, eh? How long you been riding? She looked at me, and I looked at her. She smiled flirtatiously, and I returned the gesture. Nope, better. I smiled proudly. I'm a stable hand and a bartender. Quite a combination, eh? God, I was starting to sound Canadian! Good Lord. But she was smiling, and I was smiling. I might just get somewhere with her. She didn't look like she was trying too hard to encourage me, but she wasn't turning me away either. Well, I'd wait for her to answer, then I'd pop the question. When do you get off work? Wanna party tonight? I don't start until tomorrow. She was bound to say yes. Then I'd have her.

"All my life." She answered his question he asked about how long she'd ridden. Cody seemed like a player but maybe she was wrong. She had been wrong before. She laughed slightly," Yes that is quite the combination." It was differant. She had never thought of a Stable hand also being a bartender but whatever floats your boat.

He smiled. Lucky. I've never ridden before. At least, not for more than an hour. He shifted in his seat nervously. Here we go...wait...she wasn't done. He laughed lightly. Yeah, you bet. Not sure if the owner of the stable knows I'm a bartender, but whatever. The waitress chose then to bring him his third beer. He smirked. Hey, I think it's a new record. He joked sarcastically. He opened it with ease and took a quick gulp. He looked Sky over one final time before setting his beer down. Hey, you wanna hang out tonight at my club? I don't start work until tomorrow, and I can get you free drinks. He smiled hopefully, flirtatiously. Surely she wouldn't deny, would she?
