Perhaps the fact that Hayden had not set foot on the racetrack turf in monthes is what influenced her to actually ride while others were around, maybe her desire to win ? Funny thing about desire, its hard to explain but easy to feel... difficulty. Pure difficulty. Hayden's red hair caught the breeze and whipped it against her cheeks, slapped her lips which she pursed from a bitter, salt taste. Her tears ? Tears of joy ? Yes. To be back where she belonged. In her right hand she held the rein of a wild eyed thoroughbred, Murphy. His dapple grey frame turned heads in the sensationally bright of the sun, the slash of the wind that sent his mane flipping and tossing to the bob of his walk. And how rare, on his right side a large patch of bay, leading down to his soulder where it fretted off, and back into grey. Cold grey, steel grey. Like the storms of August grey, or a wonderful marriage in destruction and ending in bitter dispare. He was one in a million.
She rubbed over the mark gently, softly, letting her fingers trace tiny circles before they fell limb as she remembered why it was she was here. Slowly she slid mounted Murphy and collected the reins. old hands reach up to pull down her goggles as she got into racing position. She had been training Murphy since he was born for this, and he was amazing at it. No starting gate.
Hayden pushed her heels down and clicked a small button on her pant pocket. DINNNNG ! A recording of the bell used at the track rung quietly. Murphy burst foward in unbelievable speed and Hayden pushed him harder, around the first turn and passed the watching spectators. She tapped his neck with the bat and asked him to pick up from a breeze. He snorted deliberatly, but then listened as commanded. He was beginning around the second turn, gliding along like it was nothing. Hayden patted his neck gently before pushing her heels into his side. He flew foward down the homestretch, passing the poles that made them only a blur. Was he ready for his first race? It sure looked like it by the awed faces in the crowd. Hayden slowed the colt to a canter, trot, then walk, and led him to the lead rail. Not bad Murph, not bad at all she stroked his rare mark and gave him a soft kiss on the nose. He snorted objectively and switched his weight. She lead him off the track and into the paddock where she sat and rubbed her knees, which were sore...like always.

It had been an early and already stressful morning. Sky didn't mind that she now had an extra five horses to ride today to her already six. It was a last minute thing but she hadn't relized why her friend had shluffed the last five of her own horses on Sky untill she rode the last one just minutes before. It was diranged! Wanting to flip over backwards as soon as it's forward movement had been stopped. But being a jockey the young girl was used to those types of horses. Now Sky sat atop of her own Thoroughbred,Conquest. It was a simple treat, even Quest's quirks didn't seem all that awful opposed to those last three she had excersized. Her arms ached as Quest pulled against the reins in an attempt to move into a faster pace. She ignored it and checked the chestnut stallion. Sky kissed to the Thoroughbred and he surged forward into a gallop. It was effortless and almost seemed boring for the 17.2 hand high stud. He shook his head and pushed his nose forward in attempt to rid his rider of the reins. But Sky was used to this and held the reins tighter with gloved hands as she leaned foward and asked the horse to work a faster pace. A stunning grey horse flew past them and Quest quickened even fast pulling at the reins to join the passing horse. Sky smiled, pleased with his ambition. Thats what she wanted him to do.She wanted him to crave to run in a different way, not a phycotic wway that most Thoroughbred's began doing but in a reasonable way that would win him many victories. It was hard to explain. She had raced a horse that had that type of 'crave',he even had his own strategies and he barely ever lost. Sky let the stallion move out,his mane flew back stinging her cheeks but she didn't mind. This is what she lived for,the speed and that connection between horse and rider. She kneeded her closed fists in time with the Thoroughbreds stride and in no time they passed the marker and Sky stood in her stirrups slowing him down. Quest objected with short crowhops and shaking of his massive head. She ignored this and soon they were walking back to the paddocking area. She slipped for the horse's back leading him in circles. His breathing wasn't extremely hard but his nostrils still flared. Sky patted his neck before removing her goggles and hard hat. Quest still pranced with energy and Sky moved him five feet from the grey. "Hey, that was an amazing workout i seen from you two."She called to the grey's rider as she still circled her own mount.

Murphy ripped at the grass, his tack lay up against the back of the barn. It was the little piece of barn you could see on the track, the rest were furthur in, past the paddocks and arenas. Hayden scraped a pocket knife against a piece of wood, a training aid she was working on. She looked up upon hearing the other women speak. She rose to her feet, as Murphy buckled to his knees and began rolling in the grass. She kept a loose hold on the reins until he was finished. Sorry about that. She appologized to the girl, since she was about to talk a second ago.
OOC;to be continued.... sorry, lol. I have to go

As the other horse began to roll Quest decided he would aswell. Sky corrected him and kept him in circles to cool him out. She walked forward grabbing his hunter green cooler off of the fence and quickly pulled his saddle and blinkers off replacing them with the cooler. Quest wasn't wet just warm and Sky didn't want him to catch a chill and to keep his muscles warm as she went through the process of cooling the stallion out. Sky had hung a pale of water on the fence and as she walked by she let Quest take a quick sip,not letting have to much. She didn't want him to colic. When the other girl spoke Sky's attention turned to her.She smiled,"It's okay." she said in reply to the girl's apologetic words. Sky slowed her pace and Quest did to. She stopped him letting him bow his long, slender neck to clip the grass with his delicate mouth. He'd nip at the grass before snapping his head up,ears perked forward to catch the sounds of the horse's flying around the track. He'd give a little winnie before Sky would walk him out again before he got an idea in his head.

Murphy stared boldly at the stallion. He paid little attention to the girl, or to the other racehorses, and once the other thoroughbred began to ate, he followed his example. Bending his head slowly, as if to show off. He bulged out his "bloody" shoulder, and shook so that his skin twitched with beauty. I'm Hayden. This is Dial 9 Double 1, also known as Murphy The stallion stepped foward, crashing into Hayden's side. She pulled back at the lead rope. Murphy was not misbehaved he just...forgot his size was all. Hayden was used to it anyway, she grew up around big-headed thoroughbreds who seemed to think they were pocket ponies. I like to call him clutz she laughed half to herself. She smiled up at the girl. She instinctually began measuring up the horse.
Nice size, good body condition, obviously fairly well breeding. He looked good on the track to... well what you can see while going 45 miles an hour down the back stretch. Are you new around here?

Sky's brown eyes fell on the horse that seemed to deman attention. She smiled to herself. He was a good looking Thoroughbred but when the girl introduced him Sky thought the name sounded familiar. But then again, maybe she was mistaking herself. "Nice to meet you."Sky replied when the girl finished. She would of shakin' the other girl's hand but under the curcumstances Sky didn't want Quest to get to close. It never failed, as soon as Sky let her gaurd down the stallion would pull a fast one. He didn't mean it out of dustruction but he had a mischievious side to him that Sky grew to love even though it could be patient testing at times. Sky trusted Quest with her life but she didn't underestimate the muscular 17.2hh stallion's ability to cause harm even if it was by accident and when the smart Thoroughbred got it in his head, there was really no changing it. "I'm Sky,"She introduced herself. She decided it would only be polite to introduce her better half. "And this is Conquest." When the girl spoke with a question Sky smiled warmly and shook her head."No,We've been here for sometime now." Sky couldn't remember exactly how long it had been but it must of been over a few months. She enjoyed everyday of it,the horses, the work,it was truly amazing and she wouldn't miss it for the world. Reaching out with a gentle hand,Sky stroked the horse's dark chestnut coat.It was silky and warm beneath her fingures. She smiled and continued to walk the anxious Thoroughbred. All he wanted to do was run but for a moment he stood quietly nipping at the short grass.Sky took this oportunity to take his rundowns off. She crouched down beside his delicate legs and began removing the wraps.
