So far it was three days until Kris's yearling filly, Cocoa Quette, got surgery on her legs. All though odds were in her favor Kris needed a good ride to clear her head of things that could go wrong. A day earlier Kris had gotten the black filly she bought at an auction, with the mare who foaled Ruffian in her bloodlines. Kris hoped she'd have a good filly to train and so far Kris has seen potential. With someone riding the black filly Poppies, aka Poppie, the day she arrived after a few hours of settling in. The brunette girl saw a huge spike of potential and had a feeling that given the racing season the filly would be a great work-out partner with Cocoa Quette when she began to race. If that didn't work out then she'd get someone to ride Martini with the little bay yearling, when she was older. The saddle sat on her back as the bridle was being put on Kris walked into the stable and smiled at the stable hand. Things were going great and usually Kris was the one to tack up her own horses but it was late and Kris had grabbed some breakfast, at six in the morning. A small string of the barn's horses were set to go out at seven and Kris wanted to keep the filly a secret. So far the girl had just said that the filly was there for a few days, truth was it was for a while.
A race was scheduled for maiden two and three years olds who had never been on the track or hadn't won their first two races. In these odds Poppies had never been in a race but worked well with other horses on the track but took the early lead all the time, Kris had been worried about that. Patting the black neck she asked the person for a leg up when they got outside. When they did the stable hand gave her a leg up and held the lead line with the chain over her nose. Head held high Kris sat gracefully in the saddle as she felt the legs prancing underneath the huge body. Hopefully she wasn't all antsy when on the track or she'd be in for a ride. Without a timer Kris was going to just take her six furlongs and hope to get a nice in mind timing.
Hooves planted on the track the lead was taken away and Kris was on her own as the stable hand walked away, thanking him before he left. Poppies ears were pricked and her muscles tense a bit as she scanned over the new track unlike yesterday when she had a regular rider. Remember girl, maiden race in three weeks. Out at Saratoga. It wasn't a advertised race but one that Kris learned about through an ad in the paper for a gelding entered in the race. Kris knew of no one else going but she had a feeling that the filly would take the lead in the race and no one would be there. Maybe she would invite someone, Beau to maybe see the filly run, possibly Westley just to see her run as well. Or possibly both, but how would that blow over? Two friends with her at a race seeing her filly run in the race with Kris on her back. Easy girl. Patting the black neck she clucked as the filly spun in a wild circle with Kris following softly on her back. Back legs kicked out and hooves lashed at the white rail and she heard it crack a little bit. Come on you can't break things. Easy girl. With that and a few calming gestures the filly sat swiftly into a walk as she halted.

Danni scanned the track. It was a beautiful morning, a little chilly of course, and the sun was only shooting tiny rays of light across the skies. The track lights were still lit, though they were dim and provided little to almost no light. That was okay with Danni, she felt she worked best in a darker atmosphere on the track. She could really connect with the horses, and as long as she could see what she was doing, she didn't mind. The strange noises were good for her yearlings, and would prove great for her new maiden. A stable worker handed Danni the reins and she took them slowly. Single Me Out, the large white filly looked down her nose at the girl. She pawed anxiously at the dirt and snorted. Easy Kaley Danni checked over her legs, then took a few moments to just observe her behavior. The stable worker, obviously aggrivated as he watched, lounged Danni up onto the fillies back, and pulled open the poles to let her onto the track.
The filly danced a few moment and Danni cooed at her softly until she calmed. Kaley had been on the racetrack back in Kentucky before, but never this one. She snorted then burst foward cantering. Danni circled her back and calmed her. In her head she knew that a bad experience today could possibly stun the fillies whole carreer, she needed to be relaxed and ready when on the track, otherwise how would she react when in the gates ? Once Kaley learned to stand still, head tucked, and breathing slow and shallow, Danni knew she was ready. Before she asked her to breeze though, she caught glimpse of another pair of exercisors just meeters away.
Excuse me ? She watched as the girl's horse reared and pawed at things. Is she a maiden ? Danni sat deep in her seat, though Kaley's head bobbed with anxioty, she kept her fairly collected. Danni remembered Kaley's sire, one very large, very unruley racehorse, he won though. And he won big. She wasn't taking the chance for this filly to have the same habits though.

Both sets of ears heard who ever it was say excuse me and then is that a maiden. Maiden in the racing termenology meant a horse that had yet to race on the track or hadn't proved them self in the top three. So basically to Kris she hated to use that word unless signing up for a race. Her favorite word for a horse was prospect racer, as in Poppies and her ex-racer Martini who was one day going to be a lead horse. That was if he calmed down and was good under saddle, maybe he'd be a lead pony by the time Cocoa Quette made the track. But, those two horses weren't there it was the huge black filly adn Kris all alone. Well minus the other horse and the other girl who was seemingly a jockey. With a large distance at Kris's liking she knew Poppies acted up which made her a great contendor for racing and possibly eventing in the future.
Legs squeezed on the filly as she let her hands sit carefully the filly tossed her head and rose on her hind legs. "Yeah she is." It was a simple answer nothing fancy but Kris was under some pressure to try and calm the filly before she hurt herself or the other pair. With that thought the filly let out another squeal as Kris leaned forward for the rear which came shortly after. Moving to the side in side steps the filly seemed eager to begin the morning routine. All though the track was new to her the filly hadn't bothered to take a sniff or anything and was already prepared. Kris had also heard from her previous trainer that she did well under all types of terrain and ripped up the track no matter what. So if it rained on the day of the maiden race the filly would stand good odds it all depended on the other entrants.

Danni sat watching the horse, rear, fall, rear, fall. It was a simple routine. Hearing the squeal from the other filly, Kaley flipped her head cautiously, she side stepped a few times, kicked once then fell still. Kaley was fairly calm for her age, pretty well behaved...for the most part. Kaley's mother was a pretty good mare, real calm and real sweet, she'd do anything for a carrot. Danni stroked her mane softly, speaking softly to her and feeling her muscels relax beneath the saddle. Kaley thought she was a pro, no denying it. She acted as if she was too good for all the nonsense... she was a little priss to be perfectly honest.
Well, Im just going to breeze her, I dont want to completely blow her out A mouthful of words that made her double-think, as obviously the other was a women of few. It didnt matter. Care to join ? If the filly calmed, of course. She only thought that to herself. She turned Kaley to the left and started leading her to the rail.
